The project is to build a club car that can be used by financial members of the SDC for the purpose of driver training and to gain access into entry level motorsports events held by CAMS affiliated clubs.
Mark Peacock has donated a 1600 to the club, to be built from the ground up with the financial assistance of a $5000 CAMS grant and Club Car Sponsors, and assembled by members of the SDC.
The project is to build a 1600 sedan to be used in all types of motorsport events such as skid pan, motorkhana's (dirt and tar), khanacross, dirt club rally events and tarmac sprints, where every club member can gain valuable driving techniques as well as having a good time getting involved in a datsun.
The Club car will be basic in mods and period to the vehicles era (1970's). Mandatory safety mods will include full bolt in roll cage, a pair of approved seats ( sparco or velo numbers should do the trick), 6 point harness' and helmets.
Body 1970 1600 sedan shell, sandblasted in and out, except turret, rear 1/4's and rear beaver (to prevent warpage) and be extra spot welded, braced in the front lower A pillar, and polyurethane foam filled sills and pillars.
Engine Rebuilt L20B, 72 degree cam, twin 45mm weber's ,
Drive train 260Z box, R180 locker
Suspension 240K front struts and brakes, std rear end , super-pro bushes All new spring and shocks (TBA)
Brakes New slotted rotors, std rear shoes with 240Z wheel cylinders, 180B booster and master cylinder, new rubber lines. Hydraulic handbrake.
Tyres / wheels 14x6 RS-8 Watanabe's, Dunlop rally tyres for dirt and tarmac
Paint Concept 2K, epoxy primer, clear over base, classic Datsun white/red/blue with sponsors logo's airbrushed on prior to clear coat to be appiled by Roy @ Top Kolor.
Car will be featured as a project build in Fast Fours Magazine after completion for the Nissan-Datsun Nationals 2009. Club Car Sponsors: Boz from B & D Industries (02) 4738 1958 has kindly donated a rotisserie to the Sydney Datsun Club
